ZETESMEDEA - OPTIMIZING WAREHOUSE PROCESSES

ZetesMedea is a logistics execution system that enhances the efficiency of warehouse processes. It helps reduce costs by ensuring error-free execution of operations and provides real-time visibility on warehouse events by integrating advanced technologies like voice and machine vision (ImageID).

A highly competitive sector

Operating under heavy economic pressures, most companies' primary objective is to ensure high productivity levels while minimising costs. To help achieve this they are looking for advanced process automation, enabling them to operate at higher speeds and with minimal errors. Accurate and timely deliveries are a decisive factor in their choice of supplier. The development of e-commerce also presents growth opportunities for ZetesMedea. A dedicated e-commerce distribution warehouse is organized very differently to a traditional one, due to the specificities of supplying a greater number of customers with smaller quantities of products. This solution is primarily of interest to supermarkets, traditional food processors and e-commerce.

FROM 600 TO ZERO SHIPPING ERRORS AND RETURN ON INVESTMENT IN ONE YEAR WITH ZETES’ LOADING VERIFICATION SOLUTION

Energy efficient solutions provider Danfoss’ main warehouse handles 1.5 million order lines and 80.000 deliveries per year. Prior to implementing ZetesMedea, the vehicle loading verification process was manually intensive and time consuming. Due to tight turnaround time constraints, human errors occurred frequently and were not identified until Danfoss was informed by its third party forwarding agent.  Around 600 errors would occur each year resulting in goods needing to be returned to the warehouse at a cost to Danfoss, with correct items then dispatched.

Danfoss opted for the ZetesMedea loading verification solution that uses machine vision based data capture. Integrated with Danfoss’ WMS, it instantly detects and reads the barcoded pallet label, validates it against shipping information for discrepancies and gives a go/no go signal to the operator. It also captures images of every pallet, roll carrier or crate and records them in a dedicated ImageBank to provide irrefutable proof that an order was correctly loaded and shipped.

“In the 10 months since we started using the solution, there have been no loading errors whatsoever. Overall, there has been a dramatic year on year quality improvement”, says Henrik Rosendahl Laursen, Warehouse and Distribution Consultant with Danfoss.
